A Future Beyond the Arena
WHAT HAPPENS TO BULLS AND COWS WITH THE DECLINE OF BULLFIGHTING?
At Namigni Animal Sanctuary, we are building the Toro Bravo Reserve — the world’s only sanctuary dedicated to the rescue and protection of Spanish fighting bulls and cows.
These animals are born into the bullfighting industry and bred for a life defined by the arena. Yet as bullfighting declines through cultural change, restrictions, and bans in different parts of the world, an urgent and often overlooked question remains:
What happens to the bulls and cows left behind?
For many, the answer is slaughter, abandonment, or an uncertain future. Through rescue, sanctuary, and long-term protection, we are working to build a real alternative — helping ensure that these iconic animals are not forgotten in the transition beyond bullfighting.
An Uncertain Fate
BUILDING REAL ALTERNATIVES FOR THE SAFETY OF BULLFIGHTING BULLS AND COWS
For most fighting bulls and cows in Colombia, Mexico, Spain, Portugal, France, Peru or Ecuador, the future is always tragic. While most are still used in bullfights, many are slaughtered at a young age, while others face abandonment or uncertain futures once they are no longer economically useful within the system they were born into.
Our work exists to create another path.
Through rescue, lifelong sanctuary, and public awareness, Namigni Animal Sanctuary is helping demonstrate that these animals deserve more than exploitation and death. We believe the future of the Spanish fighting bull should not depend solely on the continuation of bullfighting, but also on compassion, protection, conservation, and responsible alternatives.

Life in Sanctuary
PROTECTION AND CONSERVATION OF SPANISH FIGHTING BULLS
Today, nearly 20 rescued fighting bulls and cows live peacefully at our sanctuary in Colombia, where they are free to express natural behaviors, form social bonds, and experience a life beyond the arena for the first time.
At Namigni Animal Sanctuary, our mission is not rooted in hate or division, but in building real solutions. Rather than focusing solely on exposing cruelty, we work to create tangible and compassionate alternatives for animals who would otherwise be forgotten amid cultural and economic change.
We also believe meaningful progress requires dialogue and bridge-building. By engaging with people connected to the bullfighting world, we hope to help foster a peaceful, responsible, and sustainable transition toward a future where fighting bulls and cows are no longer left behind.
Help Build a Future Beyond Bullfighting
SUPPORT THE RESCUE AND PROTECTION OF FIGHTING BULLS AND COWS
By supporting this work, you help provide food, veterinary care, land, shelter, and lifelong protection for rescued fighting bulls and cows — not only in Colombia, but also as we work to expand these efforts into Spain and Portugal, where countless animals still face uncertain futures tied to the bullfighting industry.
Your support also helps shine light on a reality that very few people — and virtually no other animal organization in the world — are actively addressing: what happens to fighting bulls and cows beyond the arena.
Together, we can help create a future where these iconic animals are no longer defined solely by bullfighting, but by the possibility of living peacefully and with dignity.
You can support this mission by making a donation or by adopting one of our rescued fighting bulls and cows.
From Nirvana, Zen, Pandora, Scorpio, Cassandra, Babel, Mandala, and Valhalla, to younger residents like Huracan, Katana, Maasai, Mahori, Khalifa, Voodoo, and Vulcan — each animal has their own story, personality, and second chance at life.
